Check out Where Men Win Glory: The Odyssey of Pat Tillman (Amazon kickback link) by Jon Krakauer (Into the Wild, Into Thin Air). He interweaves the story of Tillman with the development of al Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan in a very readable way. Good stuff.

Hi. It's been too long since I've updated my regular site, so I'm starting anew here. My old site had a few problems (like broken comments) so hopefully it will be a little smoother here.

I'm not a huge fan of blogger's design customization and I'm too busy grading papers to mess with the HTML so we'll just call it good.
